The major causes of educational wastage in public secondary schools are as observed by Duze (2012) which include: social/ economic, government/ political, educational/school, parental / community causes, religious, belief and health/ miscellaneous factors. Social/ economic cause of wastage in education affects the learner that the student cannot be able to interact with the teachers and fellow students and cannot learn. In economic cause of wastage in education, the said student due to poverty cannot continue in school because the student school fees has not been paid making the student dropout from school till the school fees could be paid. Government/ political involve all the problems that lead to wastage in schools which wars, change of government, political problems are one of them. Educational/school involves the wastages in school which results because of poor management of educational and school activities. A Parental / community cause of wastage in schools is mainly as a result of ignorance, and illiteracy among parents. For this, such parents can afford to stop a child from going to school to hawk goods at the market at the expense of the said student. Religious- belief cause of educational wastage has led to religious crisis and death of many students and parents whose children may need to withdraw from school because the students school fees couldn’t be paid anymore and health/ miscellaneous factors of educational wastage which includes death of the students parents, guardians, mental cases, accident, death and unexpected occurrences.
